After forming a new HVAC contracting company, I was solicited by telephone by HomeAdvisor. Some smooth talking salesman said for less than a $300.00 annual fee, HomeAdvisor would provide me with leads to potential customers. He didn't give me too many details. All I...

I was a member for 2 months this year, that's all I could take to be ripped off by Home Advisor! Paid 284.00 to join, they say to pay for advertising for 1 year!

then the leads started coming in ,there is a fee to get these leads, I used there phone system so they know I called each customer and left a message to call me to set up a meet ,and to give a price to the consumer. well I called for this 2 months repeatedly for every lead and Home Advisor continued to make me pay for these leads that no one called back ! I was getting ripped off . I called them they did take some off, but not many.

this was the worse thing I ever signed up for! I was being penalized for customers not calling back???? and still now I receive a notice on line that I owe home advisor 647.00 and if I don't pay they will get collectors after me! This is Ridiculous!

Don't ever join!

Im not done with this Company yet ! Stay tuned.

Please do not use Home Advisor! I will be filing an official complaint with the BBB and anyone else that I can find, so someone else does not fall into the hole that I fell into. I was moving from San Diego to Venice, Florida. My contract was sound, as far as I was concerned. I listed every single thing to be put on the truck, and I measured everything! I am impeccably accurate in what I do, as I am so honest! When the BUDGET TRUCK drove up in to my driveway, my first red flag went up. They unboxed things that I carefully boxed. Only took 1/2 of my possessions, even though 1/2 of the truck was filled. Then they DOUBLED THE COST (after everything was in the truck....and asked me how I wanted to proceed). They delivered my things FIVE MONTHS LATE! Furthermore, they already had my $12,400, and said that they did not have it in their bank. Chase proved to they that it was there. Bottom line, I bought a house and had no furniture, no clothes, no pots and pans.....only what was in the car with my 2 dogs and me, coming across the country. (We slept in the car for 8 days. There was very little room to put anything else but my Labrador and my Aussie.) I received a call 5 months after my possessions were supposed to be delivered, asking me if I wanted my things. I thought it was a prank call. The next day, a rental truck drove into my driveway. Everything that they unloaded was burnt with a black oily film on it.....that is, the things that were not broken. Over 1/2 of my belongings were damaged, melted, broken, gone through, or MISSING! I just pulled the Christmas tree out of the garage. The plastic that I put over it was completely melted, as were the branches. Not a tree that I am proud of using, even tough it was a very expensive tree. I had to just order another one. My 4 beds came broken, as were my dresser, my large round mirror, my 62" TV that had a shattered screen, my stained-glass, my grandfather's antique trunk that he used when he immigrated from Scotland almost 100 years ago, my portraits of my dogs, etc., etc., etc.--- all broken and damaged. I have pictures of everything! My clothes had so much lack oil smoke on them that I could clean nothing. My washing machine ran for weeks. Their insurance was so pathetic, that I would have received pennies. The FBI told me that they had been trying to close this cell down for decades, and they had not been able to yet! This company sang a good song to me and presented documents that were forgeries. They go by my any names. I am an educated person.....a retired second grade teacher, with am MA in Psychology. I researched, and still go taken! DO NOT USE HOME ADVISOR. DO NOT USE LOS ANGELES MOVERS, HERITAGE MOVERS, OR ANY OF THE OTHER MOVING COMPANIES THAT ARE CENTERED OUT OF PHOENIX, AZ., no matter what state you are living in. This cell has long fingers! Shame on Home Advisor for referring me to them. I have documentation and pictures to prove everything I am saying in this review! I have waited this long because I wanted my review to be factual, without emotion. The things that did not come back to me were things like, my box containing the ashes of all the dogs that I have ever owned. That was the most important, and really, the only thing, that I needed to have back in my life. It is a shame that I can not include more pictures. I have over 100 documented pictures of damage, rat *** and feecies on my rugs, broken possessions, and my belongings covered with an oily soot.

User's recommendation: Run as fast as you can from anyone that Home Advisor (and Angie) suggests to you. I do not want the same thiing to happen to you that has happened to me.

Scam- Paid for services and contractor never showed up

The contractor i hired through Home Advisor did not show up. Home advisor charged my card fully for the services. I tried to contact customer support to inform them the contractor did not come. They did not fully refund me only offered a 50% credit off the next booking. Beware, they are a scam and do not use. Work directly with the service provider you need.

User's recommendation: Do Not Use!!

False guarantee of service

Home Advisors guaranteed a plumber appointment in emergency situation. The plumber did not show up. They then offered to reschedule the appointment for several days forward. Disorganized customer service. Only interested in charging a membership fee. It is a scam!

User's recommendation: Do not use Home Advisors or Angie’s List if you expect results.

Home advisor and their false advertising

I requested a licensed pro to tuck point my brick walkway, steps and landing at the front of my home. They found a licensed pro in my area and booked 4 hours to complete the job. The pro arrived 2 hours late. He completed the job in less than 2 hours. I went to inspect the work and saw total destruction. All of the bricks were covered by cement haze. Wads of mortar was caked on top of the old broken mortar. My blacktop driveway had white boot prints from him walking back and forth to his car. The cost to repair the damage is $1100. I was told repairs won't bring everything back to its original state. Some damage can't be repaired. I filed a claim with home advisor and requested $1100 for repairs. I received an email that said they would never book that contractor on my future projects and offered me $30 credit towards my next project. I asked for the contractor's full name and credentials and they declined stating it wasn't company protocol to show credentials. I learned that the contractor never had a license and works under a fictitious name. I researched further and found that multiple class action lawsuits have been filed against HomeAdvisor. They're being sued by their employees, contractor's and consumers. The lawsuits all allege unethical and fraudulent business practices. Hopefully they shut this company down.

User's recommendation: Don't do business with home advisor and it's affiliate Angi.

Very Dissatsfied Customer

I have used HomeAdvisors 3x, none of them good. The first time a plumber charged me $345 to replace the wax ring on my toilet - only to do it wrong and had to have it redone. The second time I scheduled a mover who cancelled 10 minutes before the scheduled time. The third time, I left work to meet cleaners who were to clean my vacant apt of which I needed to be out of that day. Guess what? They didn't show! TD up p either

User's recommendation: DON'T USE HOMEADVISORS. THEY DON'T SEEM TO VET THEIR "PROFESSIONALS" AND THEN DON'T WANT TO HELP SOLVE THE ISSUES.

No show, unreliable

My husband scheduled two appointments with Home Advisor, one to thoroughly clean our house and one to do windows, as we are putting our house on the market next week. Both were cancelled hours before, with the cryptic message "Due to a last minute pro call off, we had to reschedule for (a new date and time). We apologize for the trouble." Same message for the rescheduling.

User's recommendation: Took two days off work for nothing. Unreliable.

Home Advisor automatically charges for service that you do not order and do not want.

I used the Home Advisor maid service. I did not want their service after that but they kept charging my credit card and sending people to my house. Each time I would call them and they did reverse the charge but it was a big hassle because I would have to sit on the phone for 20 or 30 minutes to talk to someone. each time they would tell me that they would would

After all of the aggravation that I have been through with Home Advisor, they had the nerve to send me an email telling me that they were going to send another house cleaner to my house. This is after I had already made it clear a couple weeks ago that I did not want to do any business with their company. I had to have my credit card company charge back their last charge that they made to me and not offering any service.
